BBP Law requires the services of an energetic and dynamic senior attorney to start up and manage an office in the Southern suburbs of Cape Town.  The successful applicant must have a minimum of 6 - 8 years’ post admission experience.

Required:

• Proven experience in civil litigation, commercial law and property law.
• Experience in managing an independent legal practice.
• The ability to manage and motivate a team of associates and candidate attorneys.
• Financial reporting to the Managing Director and the Chief Operations Officer.
• Report on performance management to Human Resources department.
• The ability to work under pressure and meet performance targets.

Note:

An existing client base and being a qualified conveyancer will be an added advantage but not a requirement.  Salary will be commensurate with experience together with performance based incentives.

VACANCY: SENIOR ATTORNEY WITH EXPERIENCE IN THE RETAIL AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY

We require the services of a senior attorney with at least 10 years post-qualification experience in the undermentioned practice areas to service the needs of one of the largest oil companies operating in the retail automotive fuel service sector in South Africa:

• An extensive understanding of the legal framework within which the development of retail automotive fuel filling and service stations (“service stations”) take place in South Africa.
• The structuring of commercial contracts between land owners, service station operators and oil companies to create a network of sustainable service stations in optimal property locations.
• Advising on energy law and regulatory matters relating to service stations.
• A comprehensive understanding of property law and property development agreements as it relates to service stations.
• Drafting complex long-term lease arrangements securing tenure in respect of property rights on service station sites.
• Merging standard commercial documentation in transaction-specific property development matters to match client’s compliance development framework.
• Drafting and negotiating sale and acquisition documents in respect of the business aspects of service stations and the properties in respect thereof.
• Transactional experience with franchise agreements in developing fast food outlets on service station sites.
• Knowledge of and experience with environmental issues associated with the distribution and retail sale of automotive fuel.
